First off...

what an amazing weekend...and what amazing people I got to meet~! Beth, Joey, Marie-Claude, Julie and Nancy....meeting you folks was a joy and thrill...I can't wait until we all meet again at MBM..

Ken- As always, it was great to see you and Karen...looking forward to some visits to Chicago next year..

ok...now an announcement.

last night at the Awards banquet I had the privilege to announce the location of PWC 5~!
so make your flight plans and book your vacation as we head to CHICAGO, IL (the location of PWC 1) for the 5th anniversary of this great weekend....The selected race is the CDC !

The rest of the weekend you already know about...so how about race day you ask?

You might recall Karen talking about perfect weather...and it was just that. An amazing day for a run. I had offered to Pace Nancy Toby to a PB of 2:40....so Heather Stewart (my Toronto running buddy), Nancy and myself lined up at that start together.

the gun went off and we started out with our plan to do 5/1 for the whole race...after about 3 or 4 km, we were off pace by about 1 min...by 10k we were now cruising comfortably with a 2 min cushion in the bank..

18km was the Toronto Penguin water station...and truly was a lifesaver for me~! I had re-injured my ITB about 14 or 15 km into the run, be we were still 2 min ahead of our pace.
a strong gut it out push to the finish and Heather started her kick....pushing ahead slightly of Nancy and I...

Nancy grabbed my hand and the fellow Penguin Lauren was to the right of us all of a sudden...Nancy grabbed her hand and the 3 of us crossed in a time of 2:38:51 according to my watch...(they had re-set the clock for the marathon)..

our official chip time?
2:38:38 Nancy Toby ( a 3 min pb)
2:38:39 David Gegear

Nancy will tell more about her PB I am sure...

It was a great day..I stayed until the last marathoner finished and then headed back to the hotel.

off to the Awards Banquet...a very emotional night for sure...It was a great experience for me..

said goodbye to everyone at 9pm and then took the boat back to my car, and then drove 2 hours home...where I was very sick with a little heat stroke I think...I seem to be ok today, and walking ok..

I think that's all..oh, except for these 2 milestones for me..
1. this was the first race I trained for.
2. we never abandoned the 5/1 once~! a first for me.

Hope to see you all in Chicago for PWC 5~!!!
