Hi everyone, I've been thinking about this weekend all day and I have been trying to put into words this weekend...
When I read Violet's post I had to respond, she posted exactly what I was thinking and feeling and couldn't put into words. Today I am not the same person who walked into the conference Friday.
I went to the conference, a little nervous okay a lot nervous and I almost fainted when John stood up and asked that all of us stand up and introduce ourselves and say a bit about ourselves. And then came the day of the aid station, I went from a lurker to this crazy, dancing, bell ringing, hugging penguin at the best water/aid station in the history of races!!! To my fellow friends at the water station, thank you for showing me the true meaning of being a penguin:) We ROCKED and you showed me what the true penguin spirit is. I can't even describe how it felt to spend the day with each of you and to see all of the runners and walkers pass by the station, each and everyone of you inspired me in ways I never dreamed possible!!! Each of you hold a very special place in my heart
I think most of us left with a feeling of an extended family, something that the founding penguins have always known! John and Karen, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart, and to those who couldn't be there, you were there in spirit and I hope to meet you next year in Chicago!
The entire weekend was magical, it was a weekend I'll never forget and as Violet posted we have a year to save and plan, and knowing what I know now I'll be there:)
To the wonderful travelling penguins (Ken, Una, Steve, Shawne, John, Dave, Patti, Nancy, Carol, June and Terri) who allowed me to be their tour guides this weekend. Thanks for allowing me the pleasure to show you some of my favourite parts of this great city!
And last but not least, thanks to the Toronto Penguins, it is an honour and a privilege to be one of you:)
BIG HUGS,
Juliep.s. Violet and Toni I'll see you in hell ;)
