**********************************************************

My short-term goal is:
Get serious about training with the S.E.R.I.O.U.S. training program (Speed, Endurance, Race/Pace, Intervals, verdistance,
Up/Vertical, Strength).  I started February 11 and have every week mapped out to my 1/2 Ironman in late September.  The half marathon at PWC 4 is a stop, albeit it a very important one, along the way.

My goal for the half is:
2:15, or to beat David Gegear, whichever comes first.

My goal for after the half is:
Finish the Pineman 1/2 Ironman triathlon in Ohio on September 21, and finish standing up.  Then of course, I stupidly registered
for the Chicago Marathon which takes place three weeks later.  That may be more questionable, but I'm hoping that if I'm in shape for a half Ironman, I'll be able to finish Chicago within 6 hours.  It won't be a PR effort.

Cross-training/other sports
Being that I'm doing triathlons, those would be swimming and biking.  I'm also trying to do weights two times a week.

Anything you'd like to add so that readers can understand you better?
Well, nothing I said to the ex-wife helped her understand me, but here goes.  I'm going to be very schizophrenic this year.  My goal race for 2002 is a half Ironman triathlon.  I did triathlons in 1987-88, and got back into them last year and found them a lot of fun.  I'm very good at the swim, then fall right off the back of the bell curve on the bike and run.  I still want to run this year though, so I am working to make my running and races fit into the overall triathlon training plan.  If I'm peaking for a run race this year, it will be the Chicago Marathon.  It seemed silly not to do my town's marathon (which runs right in front of my office building), and particularly the 25th anniversary edition.
